Yet Sir Andrew’s new musical, based on the 2003 movie “School of Rock,” is rip-roaring fun. To say it’s the funniest show of the year is selling it short. ![]() The conceit is that the pair set out to write a play because “theater is the hot new ticket: There’s ‘Hamilton’ and no other example.” Mixing script and improv, “Oh, Hello” - whose highlights include a compilation of stage clichés, a history of NYC since the ’70s and a running joke about Steely Dan - is nonstop, fantastic lunacy. ![]() Geegland - are killing in their off-Broadway debut at the Cherry Lane Theatre, where “Tennessee Williams and his sister Serena did shows.” Sketch-comedy characters usually don’t stretch well, but Nick Kroll and John Mulaney’s creations - crusty 70-something Upper West Siders Gil Faizon and George St. I laughed so hard at “Oh, Hello” that tears were streaming down my cheeks and my glasses kept fogging up.
